FC Barcelona announced last week the launch of Barça TV+, its new SVOD OTT, already available globally, also in Latin America, through its web version and mobile app. As reported by the club, the platform’s catalog includes more than a thousand hours of content and more than 3 thousand videos to access on demand. All Barça TV+ catalog is available for viewing in English, Catalan and Spanish.
The Spanish entity also reported that one of its instruments for the development of Barça TV+ is Barça Studios, an entity that centralizes the creation, production and marketing of the club’s audiovisual content. The OTT catalog offers exclusive series and documentaries created by Barça Studios, grouped under the ‘Originals’ category. Some of them are ‘Ready! Antoine Griezmann’s challenges? ”, in which the footballer challenges his sports-world friends with surprise activities; ‘Origenes’, which will provide a closer view of the player’s professional path through personal interviews and points of view from their relatives and friends; and ‘El Buscamitos’, where different players of the club will share what their career has been like after leaving professional football, together with other titles. Barça TV+ will also have the matches of the Barcelona professional team recordings to be watched on VOD; while, when football activity is resumed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it will be possible to access live events of Barça B, Barça Femenino, the club’s training categories and other professional sports. In addition, the service offers live broadcast of the linear Barça TV channel, together with historical content from FC Barcelona.
‘Barça TV+ is a key part of the club’s new digital strategy and, without a doubt, the best way to reach all of our followers around the world. It is an exclusive product that will offer fans a new way of consuming Barça where they want and when they want, with exclusive and different content that will be available on demand’, said Dídac Lee, Director of Football Club Barcelona’s Digital Area.
Barça TV+ is available for free under registration, or can be accessed under a USD 4.5 monthly subscription. In the first case, fans can access limited content, and in the second, access is unlimited.
