ESPN and Fox Sports to broadcast the return of the Bundesliga in Latin America

ESPN and Fox Sports will broadcast in Latin America the return of the Bundesliga, the professional football competition in Germany, which will be restarted this Saturday, May 16th, even during the Coronavirus pandemic. Televising of sporting events  was reactivated on May 9th with the UFC (Ultimate Fight Championship) mixed martial arts league.

Nine fixture dates after the end of the competition’s 2019/2020 season, which was interrupted on date 25, ESPN2 will broadcast four live matches, and the remaining nine to complete the competition through ESPN Play, whose contents were recently added to the ESPN App. The match that will open the competition on Saturday will be Borussia Dortmund, who ranks second in the Bundesliga, against Schalke 04, who ranks sixth. Other matches broadcast on ESPN will be the one between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Mönchengladbach, and the one starred by Bayern Munich, who leads the tournament, and Berlin Union, which will take place this Sunday, May 17th. On Monday 18th, ESPN will also be in charge of broadcasting the match that will face Bayer Leverkusen, where the Argentines Lucas Alario and Exequiel Palacios and the Chilean Charles Aránguiz play, and Werder Bremen, the team where the Peruvian footballer Claudio Pizarro is now playing.

Fox Sports will also broadcast matches of the German football competition: two of them will be broadcast live (Hoffenheim against Hertha Berlin will take place on Saturday, and Colonia against Mainz 05 on Sunday), and two others will be aired deferred (Augsburg against Wolfsburg and Fortuna Düsseldorf facing Paderborn).

The Bundesliga has been played up to its 25th fixture date (there are 34 in total) and, up to now, Bayern Munich is the team that leads the competition with 55 points, 4 more than Borussia Dortmund, who ranks second. The scorer of the current season is Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), with 25 goals. From this Saturday on, all Budesliga’s matches will be played without the audience on any stadium and with all the security measures taken, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
