After the Chilean Telecommunications Subsecretary (Subtel) requested pay TV operators and the Chilean Football Channel (CDF) -in charge of broadcasting the Professional Football League in the country- to apply measures to compensate its clients subscribed to CDF HD and Premium offers, because the competition has been cancelled. This way, Entel, VTR, DirecTV, Movistar and Claro announced that their subscribers will have discounts applied as part of the measure.
DirecTV decided to apply discounts to all CDF Premium subscriptions for all the clients of the company that had hired it between October 18th and November 30th, date on which the tournament was cancelled. The discount will be automatically reflected in the next billing, according to the company. Movistar, on the other hand, confirmed that it will apply a discount to all its Movistar TV and Movistar Play customers who have had hired CDF Premium or CDF HD between October 18th and November 29th. The compensatory measure will be automatically reflected in the next or subsequent billing (depending on the billing cycle) of clients subscribed to the CDF Premium and CDF HD channels during the indicated period.
The same measure was announced by Claro, who officially reported that ‘because of the end of the National Football League, we have decided to discount the collection of the CDF Premium and HD service to all clients who had hired it between October 18th and November 30th’. This discount will be automatically reflected in the next billing. Entel and TVR had also announced similar discounts.
‘Subtel must make user rights sure. They hired CDF Premium and / or CDF HD offers to watch the Chilean Professional Football League and for more than a month they have not been offered that service. We are very pleased that some companies welcomed the call we made to be responsible and empathic with their customers. We hope that other companies will soon join and have good news for their users’, said Pamela Gidi, Chilean Telecommunications Subsecretary.
