Sidy Diagne, CEO at Excaf Telecom, which is the government’s technical partner in Senegal believes that migration should be completed by the end of 2019. This period, which is several months ahead of International Telecommunication Union, set for June 2020, would result from government pressure on its technical partner.
Of the 25 sites that the Excaf is to operationalize, 14 have been completed. Five are about to be completed while five more are waiting for the government to provide land for their site.
For the moment, 500,000 decoders have been sold for the areas already covered.
These decoders allow access, for the moment, to 17 local and international channels as well as to the bouquet of 65 channels of Excaf. The offer is not expected to change significantly by the end of the year.
