MultiChoice Group-owned pay-television service DStv is offering free access to 16 channels, including to non-subscribers.
Since the lockdown started, usage of the service has increased to 20% and peak usage is 80% compared to pre-crisis peaks.
Multichoice has added educational content with the Mindset PoP channel. This channel offers educational programming comprising of the entire General Education and Training (GET) phase, including Early Childhood Development (ECD), as well as a key focus on the Grade 4 – 9 curriculums.
Mindset PoP will offer live lessons daily, with six fresh hours every day. A website is accessible for parents to download worksheets and information sheets to work through with teachers. Lessons are based on the South African Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) and are also to the Cambridge curriculum.
The free channels are DStv, People’s Weather, SuperSport Play, PBS Kids, Mindset PoP, Channel O, TBN, BBC World News, CNN, Sky News, eNCA, SABC News, Newzroom Afrika, Al Jazeera, Euronews Now and Africanews.
