According to several specialized websites in Brazil, Disney +, Disney’s new SVOD OTT about to be launched in Latin America, could be available in the country under the pre-sale model as of October 17th, that is, 30 days before the date of the platform’s official launch in the region.
Although up to now Disney has not reported the value of the Disney+ monthly subscription, according to the information reported by the Brazilian websites, the OTT would offer a R$ 28.99 (USD 5) monthly subscription, and an annual payment of R $ 289.99 (USD 52).
It was recently reported that Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are removing Disney titles from their respective catalogs, as they will be included on the Disney+ portfolio as of November 17th, the scheduled date for the launch of the platform in Latin America. Similarly, in mid-August, Disney officially announced that the OTT will be the exclusive platform for a selection of films and series from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic, as well as exclusive original productions. This way, Disney+ will be the only OTT where all Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars films will be available.
In addition, the pre-sale model that will be applied in Brazil was also implemented in other countries where Disney+ has already been launched, including the US, where the platform has been available since November 12th last year. According to Disney’s latest quarterly results report, the company recorded a total of 60.5 million subscribers to Disney+ as of June 30th, 2020.
