Discovery Channels to launch in French on StarTimes in Sub-Saharan Africa

Discovery INC, the number one global content provider of factual entertainment, has today announced that they will be launching two of their channels, Investigation Discovery (ID) and Discovery Science in French with leading digital Pay TV provider, StarTimes in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Some of the shows that StarTimes subscribers will have access to on ID include – Web of Lies, Heart of Darkness, Impact of Murder, Someone You Thought You Knew, Reasonable Doubt and People Magazine Investigates. In July and August viewers can also look forward to a series of stunts such as Summer Nightmares, Throwback Saturdays and ID documentaries.  Since its launch in 2008, ID has continued to grow in popularity across global audiences. The channel recently become the network tuned into most often on average in the US, and has just received its highest ever ratings in EMEA for the first quarter of 2020.

On Discovery Science viewers will be able to catch the most recent launch of SpaceX in the documentary Space Launch: America Returns which will take audiences on the mission to launch veteran astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the ISS on a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft. Highlights in July and August include an engineering stunt called Incredible Constructions, which follows the construction of the world’s most incredible engineering projects and an Animals Stunt unpacking the mystery behind remarkable and peculiar animal behavior.

Launched in 1996 Discovery Science is still the only 24/7 global channel devoted to science, space, engineering and construction, delivering squarely on Discovery’s promise of ‘satisfying curiosity’. 

Discovery and StarTimes have been working together since 2015 and the current Discovery StarTimes bouquet includes Real Time, Discovery Family and ID in English.
