DirecTV secures UEFA national team rights

Pay TV operator DirecTV has signed an agreement with European soccer’s governing body UEFA to broadcast in Latin America the competitions of UEFA’s national teams during the period 2018-2022.
Under the deal, the operator will broadcast the European qualifiers for UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as the first two inaugural seasons of the UEFA Nations League (2018/19 and 2020/21), including the finals of 2019 and 2021.
Coverage will be available in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, through DirecTV Sports and DirecTV Sports HD and on the digital platforms DrectvSports.com, DirecTV Sports App and DirecTV Play.
“We are incredibly happy to expand our sports entertainment offer and to include competitions for the national teams of UEFA, especially after their strong performance in FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, with the triumph of France,” said Rick Nerod, Chief Content Officer of DirecTV Latin America.
