DirecTV Latin America ended 2017 with 13.6 million subscribers

AT&T reported its fourth quarter financial results. The company said that DirecTV Latin America recorded 139,000 net adds in Q417 and reached 13.6 million total subscribers. This figure does not include Sky Mexico (Televisa-AT&T), which had approximately 8.0 million subscribers as of September 30, 2017.
According to AT&T report, Sky Brasil added 70,000 customers in the quarter and ended the period with 5.3 million subscribers. The PanAmericana division, which includes the operations in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and the Caribbean, added 69,000 clients in Q417 and reached 8.3 million.
It must be taken into account that effective January of 2017 DirecTV Latin America changed its methodology for counting prepaid video connections to align with other AT&T prepaid business practices. This change increased the total number of DirecTV Latin America video connections by 1.1 million in Q117.
Total revenue from Latin America were USD 1.4 billion, up 10.3% year over year. DirecTV said that Latin America revenues “reflect price increases driven by macroeconomic conditions with mixed local currencies”.
