DAZN resumes international expansion plans as of December

The OTT DAZN, focused on sports content, has officially announced last October 28th that it will resume its international expansion plans, originally announced in March, in 200 countries and territories, including Latin American countries, as of December 1st. Likewise, in July, as reported by several specialized websites, the platform developed a trial version for users who were interested in trying the platform, to whom a previous registration was requested.

‘From the UK to Mexico to Australia, we’ve seen an encouraging level of interest in our key events since first launching in 2016’, said DAZN EVP, Global Platform & Revenue Innovation, Joseph Markowski. ‘We are looking forward to introducing the DAZN platform around the world this December with an exciting schedule of fights’, he added.

DAZN was already available in Brazil, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the US, Canada and Japan. Brazil was the first country in Latin America to which the platform arrived, in May 2019. However, the company has recently reduced its operations in the country, in which it decided not to prioritize the acquisition of new sports rights, due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

From DAZN they have also confirmed that the platform’s monthly subscription will be valued at around USD 2.50, and the app will be available on most internet-connected devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs, smart TVs, streaming sticks and game consoles.

The first events that the company plans to broadcast once its global expansion is completed will be two boxing fights. First, on December 5yh, DAZN will broadcast the fight starring US Ryan Garcia and British Luke Campbell; while, seven days later, the fight between  British Anthony Joshua and Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev will take place.
