Sports OTT DAZN, soon to be launched in Brazil, could be one of the possible candidates to buy Fox Sports in the country, according to Brazilian journalists Eduardo Ohata (Yahoo) and Mauricio Lima (Veja magazine). Fox Sports sale was an Economic Defense Administrative Council’s (CADE) decision, which approved the merger between Fox and Disney but ordered Fox to sell all its sports networks in Brazil to avoid market concentration in this area.
Currently, DAZN has the rights to broadcast several sporting events such as the South American Cup, League 1 (France) and the Serie A (Italy), with exclusivity, in all cases, until 2021. In addition, since its launch in 2016, It is available in Austria, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Canada, Italy, the US and Spain.
DAZN’s arrival in Brazil is scheduled for the end of this month. One of the main new features that will bring will be the MultiView function, which will allow subscribers to watch up to four events on the same screen simultaneously. The OTT has also already given Corinthian’s South American Cup matches broadcasting rights to Rede TV, so that it can broadcast a match of each round of the competition for free.
