Conmebol TV now available for Claro’s mobile clients in Brazil

According to information reported on several websites in Brazil, the telecommunications company Claro (America Movil) has recently announced new plans for its mobile telephony clients, in which it offers them the possibility of acquiring the Conmebol TV premium package. The initiative takes place after, once the channel was launched, in September 2020, Claro started offering it to its pay TV and residential internet customers.

Conmebol TV was officially launched in Brazil in September last year, when the Copa Libertadores 2020 edition was resumed after being cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. At the time of its launch, the channel, offered under the premium mode, was available only for pay TV customers of Claro (America Movil) and Sky (AT&T), although, later, Claro expanded the offer for its residential internet customers, and now also for its mobile ones. The channel is owned by the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol), and broadcasts in Brazil matches of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores, Copa Conmebol Sudamericana and Conmebol Recopa. The Conmebol TV channels are produced by Band Sports (Grupo Bandeirantes).

Those Claro mobile customers who access Conmebol TV can do so through the Now app, as well as Sky pay TV customers can join it through the Sky Play OT. As reported by Conmebol when the channel was launched, the Conmebol TV’s monthly subscription is valued at  R$ 39.90 (USD 7).

According to the latest Anatel report, Claro lost 776 thousand pay TV clients during 2020, and ended December with 6.99 million subscribers, of which 6.13 million belong to its cable offering, and 853 thousand to DTH.
