Claro Video offers new free streaming service

The OTT operator Claro Video (America Móvil) introduced a new free service called Claro Video Básico, which gives streaming access to 500 titles. It is available on Claro Video’s website in all Latin American markets where the it operates.


To access the free content, users only have to register on the site, without entering any payment method. There’s no minimum stay terms so users can stop using Claro Video Básico without penalty.


The catalog includes up to 500 contents including movies, series, children’s videos, sports, short films and documentaries, the company said in a press release. The catalog also features Claro Video’s original productions “La Hermandad” and “El Torito”. This way, Claro Video repositions itself in its competition with Netflix, by offering free content while reinforces its transactional option (T-VOD).


As it is a new package included on its website, the service maintains the same features offered to paid subscribers. Users have access to Pay Per View option to rent movies. The content is available up to five devices simultaneously via PC or  iPad, iPod and iPhone, Tablets and Android Smartphones, Xbox 360, PC and Tablets Windows 10, Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony brands and also through Claro Video’s Player.
