Net (América Móvil), Brazil’s largest pay TV operator, announced the commercial launch of the 4K service for the 2018 World Cup, which will be available through SporTV (Globosat).
Net will offer 56 matches in 4K in 10 cities, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the capital Brasilia. Content will be available to customers of Net Top HD plan. The operator will change the set-top boxes of the subscribers with this package (or those who opt for this option) for an installation cost of R$ 90 (USD 24.2). UHD games will also be available on the ‘Now’ VOD platform.
In addition to the World Cup matches, the operator will also start offering some content, such as movies and series, on Now, said in a statement Marco Dyodi Takahashi, Net’s director of Marketing.
On the other hand, the games that will air on SporTV and Fox Sports in high definition will have the “Replay TV” feature, which allows users to restart a show or event. The operator also offers 7 days catch-up. The feature is available through the programming guide on compatible channels.
