The Brazilian Olympic Committee has officially announced on November 16th the creation of ‘Canal Olímpico do Brasil’, a new OTT platform that it plans to officially launch in December. Access to the platform will be free, and its catalog will include live broadcasts of competitions from all Olympic disciplines. In addition, the entity reported that they may also acquire rights to include international tournaments. The OTT was developed in partnership with the Brazilian company TV NSports.
‘The creation of the platform is part of a strategic plan for the 2021-2024 Olympic cycle. The COB’s commitment is focused on promoting greater visibility and strengthening the Brazilian Olympic movement’, said Paulo Wandersley, COB’s President. ‘The ‘Canal Olimpico do Brasil’ will allow Brazilian sport to expand its reach with different audiences, strengthening its image and allowing to get new income for confederations’, added Manoela Penna, COB’s Communication and Marketing Director.
As part of its future plans for the new platform, COB reported that it will be able to include advertisements during its events broadcasts, as well as PPV events. Regarding access to the catalog of ‘Canal Olímpico do Brasil’, COB reported that the platform will have a web version, and it will be possible to access it from computers, smart TVs and mobile devices. The platform will also offer extra sports content, such as interviews with athletes and special videos about different sports.
