The Rio de Janeiro’s Football Federation, located in Brazil (FERJ), is launching new models to broadcast the Campeonato Carioca, a professional football league whose 2021 edition began this week and brings together the main clubs in Rio de Janeiro. The competition can be watched both via OTT, as well as on pay TV and FTA TV. The competition’s TV rights, as well as the production of audiovisual content for the tournament are in charge of the recently created SportsView.
Brazilian pay TV operators Claro (America Movil), Sky (AT&T) and Vivo (Telefonica) are offering premium packages of the Campeonato Carioca to their subscribers. In Brazil, one of the latest premium initiatives launched took place last year with ‘Conmebol TV’, a new Conmebol channel produced and programmed by BandSports, with matches from the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Conmebol Recopa. On FTA TV, Record TV (Grupo Record) will broadcast some matches for each fixture date of the Campeonato Carioca.
Apart from that, according to several specialized websites in Brazil, FERJ, in partnership with eight clubs that compete in the Campeonato Carioca, has launched ‘Cariocão TV’, a new SVOD OTT created especially to broadcast the 78 live matches of the championship. The platform offers three subscription models: access to all the competition’s matches for R$ 129.90 (USD 23) -which can be paid in up to four fees -; a monthly subscription valued at R$ 49.90 (USD 9); and an option of R$ 59.90 (USD 10.5) to access individual matches.
As reported by several specialized websites in Brazil, the Campeonato Carioca’s football clubs have partnered with Mediastream to broadcast football matches via OTT, while the company in charge of payments for the Carioca’s matches will be FutebolCard, focused on online tickets sale for football teams.
