Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) made a public consultation to its citizens, in order to obtain suggestions on how to combat piracy in the country’s telecommunications area. The entity also spread a report that gave several details on these topic and how it is affecting telecommunications industry at a national level.
‘We must help the Agency to be helped to elaborate a consistent measures proposal . Piracy is a serious problem, which costs the country billions of reais’, said Thiago Botelho, Auditor at Anatel.
Brazilian Federal Revenue Department (better known as ‘Receita Federal’ in the country) has destroyed 12 thousand pay TV STBs used for piracy business during this year, after locating them on the borderline between Brazil and Paraguay.
