Blim TV to feature AVOD version in 2021

Televisa announced that it will launch an AVOD version of its OTT Blim TV in 2021, apart from the platform’s SVOD version, already available. The announcement was made by Luis Arvizu, CEO at Blim TV, although he did not clarify whether the AVOD version will be available only in Mexico, or also in other Latin American countries.

With this news, Blim joins other AVOD platforms recently launched in the region, such as Pluto TV (ViacomCBS) and FreeTV (Olympusat). As reported by Arvizu, after the relaunch of Blim as Blim TV, in 2019, they experienced a significant increase in subscribers, and reported that the launch of an AVOD model is the next step for the evolution of Blim TV. The executive also explained that the decision was made, in part, after verifying the growth in Televisa’s digital content consumption. ‘Contents that we make available on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube reach more than four billion views in a month’, he said.

Arvizu also reported that in the AVOD version ‘we will not offer the usual segmentations, based on gender and age, but advanced, highly specialized segmentations’, although he did not give further details. The executive promised an offer aligned to the brands businesses, with exact measurements, and different features, which will include the possibility of virtually inserting products within the content.
