BBC will broadcast its programmes on the free-to-air channel Soweto TV in South Africa. The British group and the channel have announced a partnership agreement to air certain BBC programmes on the South African channel.
The Director of Business Development of BBC World Service, Simon Kendall, declared, “We are delighted that viewers from Gauteng and across South Africa can now watch an exciting selection of BBC programs thanks to our new agreement with Soweto TV. We look forward to working more closely with Soweto TV and leveraging this new presence in South Africa.”
Soweto TV will have access to a large amount of content capable of attracting a large audience, such as the award-winning investigative series Africa Eye or the female promotion program TheSheWord.
