Argentina renews DTT deal with RT

Russian TV network RT will continue to be available on the DTT platform in Argentina. Its executives renewed the distribution deal until 2022. The signing ceremony was attended by Russian president Vladimir Putin and Argentine president Mauricio Macri.
RT was the first foreign broadcaster to be carried by TDA (Television Digital Abierta- Open Digital Television). It was launched on that platform in 2014 through a video conference between Putin and the then president of Argentina, Cristina Kirchner. Under the new agreement, RT en Español will be available on TDA throughout the national territory until October 2022, said the channel in a press release.
According to a study by Ipsos, RT’s weekly audience in Latin America almost tripled in the last two years and today 18 million people watch the channel weekly in ten countries of the region.
In addition, RT Spanish website has the largest audience of all international news outlets broadcasting in Spanish. According to the data provided by SimilarWeb, RT en Español has been outpacing the Spanish-language websites of BBC, CNN, Euronews and France 24 in terms of a number of visitors for many months running. On YouTube, RT Spanish has more than 1 billion views, surpassing all other international news outlets that broadcast in Spanish.
