AMC Networks International Latin America (AMCNI-LA) announced the acquisition of the third The Walking Dead universe series, which will be released exclusively in Latin America in 2020, by the AMC channel. Produced and distributed by AMC Studios, the 10-episode series is now being produced in Virginia, US.
‘The successful The Walking Dead universe mythology has one of its most passionate fan bases. The long-awaited drama will present unknown characters and explore new and exciting stories’, said Pablo Corona, VP of Programming and Acquisitions at AMCNI-LA. ‘This is a particularly important acquisition for AMC in our region, which will complement other outstanding AMC Studios series such as Fear the Walking Dead, NOS4A2 and The Terror: Infamy’, he added.
The series features two young female main characters, and will focus on the first generation that reaches adulthood in the apocalypse. The cast consists of Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella. The series was co-created by The Walking Dead universe Content Director Scott M. Gilmple and Matt Negrete, writer and producer of The Walking Dead during the past five seasons, and also a showrunner of the new drama. The series is produced by Gimple, Negrete, Robert Kirkman and David Alpert.
