Brazilian Grupo Globo and Amazon Prime Video announced this last Friday, June 11th, a partnership, from which Premiere joins Prime Video Channels in Brazil. It is a series of pay TV channels that broadcast football league’s matches that take place in Brazil, under the PPV modality. With the news, Amazon Prime Video is adding live sports in the country for the first time as part of its catalog.
According to the information reported on several specialized websites in Brazil, Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the country will be able to hire the Premiere offer for a R$ 79.90 (USD 16) monthly subscription, and access almost a thousand football matches . Some of the main live sporting events that are included as part of Premiere’s offering are series A and B of the Brasileirão (Brazilian Professional Football League); the Copa do Brasil (competition played by teams from the 26 states of Brazil and the Federal District); and state competitions, such as the Campeonato Gaucho, played by teams from the state of Rio Grande do Sul); the Campeonato Mineiro (disputed by teams from the state of Minas Gerais); the Campeonato Paulista, also known as ‘Paulistão’, in which teams from the state of São Paulo face themselves; and the Campeonato Pernambucano, which brings together teams from the state of Pernambuco.
In addition to Prime Video, Premiere is available through pay TV operators in Brazil, as well as through Globoplay, Grupo Globo’s SVOD OTT, through the ‘Globoplay + Canais ao Vivo + Premiere’ package, launched this year, with series, films, journalistic content and documentaries from Globoplay, Grupo Globo’s channels and the Premiere offer.
