Almost 22% of Telefonica Chile’s clients are on IPTV

In its Q1 2020 quarterly results report, Telefonica Chile reported 497 thousand accesses to its TV offer. The figure shows a 20.2% decrease in relation to the end of Q1 2019, and 26 thousand fewer accesses compared to Q4 2019. The company also highlighted that its pay TV revenue at the end of Q1 was valued at CH$ 32,394 million (USD 39.4 million), a 18.3% drop compared to the end of Q1 2019.

Regarding TV accesses, Telefonica Chile reported that its DTH accesses fell 28.1% compared to Q1 2019, ‘partially offset by a 28.8% growth on IPTV accesses, which, as of March 2020, they reached 115,565 accesses, that is, 21.9% of the total TV client base’ , the company reported about the issue. Its DTH base ended March with around 379 thousand accesses, while accesses to FTTH had a 32.5% increase in relation to Q1 2019, and totaled 545 thousand.

Telefonica Chile also reported 425 thousand clients added to its Movistar Play offer at the end of Q1 2020, considering the Movistar Play Light and Movistar Play Full plans, which ended March with 22.5 thousand clients. During Q1, the company increased Movistar Play Light channels from 8 to 57, and added Fox’s channel package for free to its DTH, IPTV and Movistar Play Full clients. In addition, Telefónica highlighted the Amazon Prime Video content integration agreement on Movistar Play.
