Wananchi Group-owned East African pay-TV operator, Zuku TV, announced the completion of its test phase in Malawi and confirmed its plans to fully launch its services in the country with an initial cost of USD 10 million.
“We are inevitably contributing to the country’s digital knowledge and economy infrastructure,” said Richard Alden, CEO of Wananchi Group. “Our goal is to ensure the majority if not all households in the country have access to our world class digital television content at very affordable subscription charges.”
Malawi is the fourth country where Zuku TV expanded it operations after Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The pay-TV operator is also eying to expand its footprints to Ethiopia and Rwanda by the end of this year. In Malawi, Zuku TV also plans to partner with local artists to give them a platform to promote their talents.
