Zimpapers to launch TV network

The largest print media house in Zimbabwe, Zimpapers which is owned by the government is planning to launch a new TV network, Zimpapers Television Network. The government of Zimbabwe will now have 2 companies that both do TV, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and now Zimpapers.

 

The TV station will be on the terrestrial digital TV platform that the government has been working to launch. In terms of content, it looks like the regular TV programming with a heavy dose of local: cooking shows, sport, a local soap, comedy and coverage of local events.

 

To recall, Zimbabwe Newspapers is a government-owned newspaper publisher and commercial printer. It is the publisher of daily newspapers The Herald, The Chronicle, B-Metro and H-Metro. It has two Sunday newspapers, The Sunday Mail and The Sunday News. The company also owns a radio station, Star FM. The majority owner of the Zimpapers is Zimbabwe Newspapers Pvt Ltd, which is owned by Zimbabwe Mass Media Trust a government owned Trust
