Zimbabwe needs USD 30m for DTT switch

Zimbabwe’s national signal carrier, Transmedia, has declared that it needs USD 30 million for the initial phase of the DTT rollout in the country.

Zimbabwe’s plan to start pilot testing of DTT in some of its major cities in 2013 also did not kick off due to lack of funding.

The country had earlier missed the December 31, 2013 deadline set by members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to migrate from analogue to DTT signal. However, it is now reportedly gearing to switch off its analogue signal by June 2015.
