Pay- TV subscribers in Zimbabwe would shoot up to 341,260 subscribers at the end of 2016, forecasts Dataxis, a global research firm. Pay- television market in Zimbabwe continues to be in its infancy and it is superseded by the strong growth of free-to-air television segment.
According to Dataxis, there are over 149,200 pay-TV subscribers in the country at the end of March 2015. The country has added over 3,100 pay-TV subscribers during the first quarter of 2015 from 145,100 pay-DTH subscribers at the end of 2014. The market is ruled by a couple of pay-DTH providers namely DSTV and MyTV.
At the end of 2014, there were over 1.67 million free-to-air users across Zimbabwe.
