In a competitive market alongside six other telecom companies, mobile operator Vodacom Tanzania is considering ways and means to improve its market share. It is in this context that discussions initiated by the parent company are underway with the Tanzanian government and other mobile companies.
Vodacom Group’s President and CEO, Shameel Joosub explained that the telecom company is reviewing potential business opportunities that could help to consolidate its business in the local market.
A possible alliance of Vodacom with competitors of the ilk of Airtel, Tigo or Halotel who dominates the rural area, could allow them to cover areas where their network is still weak within the country. This new venture will allow Vodacom Tanzania to acquire new subscribers and as well boost their revenues.
