Vodacom has been granted live broadcasting rights for the FA Cup 2018-2019, a British football tournament, for Video Play, its video-on-demand service.
The agreement will come into effect on January 26, when Video Play will broadcast five games. The details of the deal have not yet been given, but in addition to broadcast live and deferred matches of the competition, Vodacom could use videos and images related to the competition to promote Video Play.
Vodacom stated, “Without the obligation of a monthly pay-tv subscription, Vodacom customers will have access to live, delayed-live, or catch-up to all their favourite teams in the FA Cup, including highlights and clips from as little as 2.51 USD (R35) a game from any device of their choice.”
It should be remembered that Video Play currently has more than one million subscribers. The popularity of the service is related to its pricing which allows access to content for a day or more, depending on the choice of the customer.
