Univision contemplates options for a possible sale

Univision Communications indicated today that ‘its board of directors is analyzing strategic options’ against rumors that indicated a possible sale. The origin of the versions corresponds to an article in The Wall Street Journal, which noted that the company hired Morgan Stanley, Moelis & Company and investment bank LionTree to explore options.

Univision warned that it cannot predict the analysis  timing or result yet, and that it does not intend to disclose or make comments on related events until the board completes its evaluation.

Univisión is considered the main channel for the Hispanic community in the US. The company has Saban Capital as its main shareholder. Univision has been a news protagonist lately due to the resignation of its CEO, Randy Falco, in 2018 and its attempt to enter the digital media business by buying assets such as The Onion and Gawker, which it finally sold.
