Twitter has unveiled on Monday, during its first-ever Digital Content NewFronts presentation, a slate of new premium live streaming content deals across sports, news and entertainment. The list of partners includes Bloomberg, Live Nation, BuzzFeed News and MLB, among others.
As the Wall Street Journal previously reported, Twitter will debut the first-ever 24/7 breaking news network in partnership with Bloomberg, which will produce specific content for this initiative. It will launch this fall (spring in South America).
With BuzzFeed News Twitter will launch “MorningFeed”, a brand new morning news and current events show, while in partnership with The Verge it will debut a new gadget show.
In the sports segment, the social network announced that it will live stream, for the first time, a weekly regular-season game of the WNBA, during the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Moreover, in addition to weekly live MLB games that stream on Twitter this season, a new 3-hour once weekly MLB program will live stream exclusively on the platform.
The social network will also launch “Stadium”, a new, original, fully programmed, 24/7 linear experience that will integrate exclusive live collegiate sporting events, extensive highlights, classic games, and daily live studio programming.
In the entertainment segment, Live Nation will deliver select Live Nation concerts and original content. The concert series launches on Saturday, May 13 with a live stream of the three-time Grammy-winning multi-platinum Zac Brown Band.
“We could not be prouder of the success we have achieved so quickly since launching live streaming premium content. Last quarter, we streamed over 800 hours of live premium content from leading brands across sports, esports, news, and entertainment,” said Twitter’s COO, Anthony Noto.
