Twitter announced a partnership with the Argentina’s National Basketball League to live stream the final matches of La Liga Championship between San Lorenzo and Regatas basketball teams. This marks the first live streaming deal for Twitter with a partner in Argentina.
The live stream are available via @LigaNacional for free to logged-in and logged-out users on Twitter and on Twitter’s App in connected devices, such as Apple TV and Microsoft Xbox One.
Twitter already offered its first game, which was played on Thursday July 6.“We are thrilled to partner with La Liga in Twitter’s first livestreaming partnership in Argentina,” said Pitter Rodriguez, head of sports partnerships for Twitter in Latin America.
“Basketball conversations already unfolds live on Twitter and now, together with La Liga, fans can watch live games on the same platform where the conversation is happening,” added Rodríguez. The executive had already mentioned to NexTV News Latam they were close to announcing new agreements in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil.
Only in the first quarter of 2017, Twitter has streamed over 800 hours of live premium video from content partners across more than 450 events.
The rest of the games will be available on Monday, July 10th; Wednesday, July 12th; Saturday, July 15th; Tuesday, July 18th and Saturday, July 22nd (the three latter if necessary).
