TVN reduces losses in 2017

Chilean broadcaster TVN has recorded losses of USD 15 million in 2017, an improvement of 39% compared to the USD 24 million registered in 2016, according to Diario Financiero.
In turn, the stated-owned channel reported revenues of USD 84 million, an increase of 6% compared to 2016. During the year, the channel’s administration has carried out several strategies to position it among the most important media, including the optimization of the programming offer and the redesign of more efficient production processes.
In addition, the company explained that it is developing a plan to adapt the contents for the distribution in new platforms in order to align with changes in the audience’s habits, and it is deepening the aspects of revenue diversification and future business development.
The total television market reported losses of USD 25.8 million, 26% more than in 2016. The only channel that had profits was Mega (USD 8.7 million), although 50% lower compared to the previous year. Chilevisión reduced its losses by 5% to USD 12.5 million. La Red reported losses of USD 7.5 million, compared to the USD 1.2 million of 2016. Canal 13 did not present its results.
