TV Cultura to affiliate with two channels in Brazil

Brazilian channel TV Cultura has affiliated itself with  networks TV Maranhense -from Maranhão’s state-, and TV Diversa, from Belo Horizonte, with the aim of expanding its national  reach. The channels records 1.6 and 1.4 million subscribers respectively. The agreement provides that, from last March 31st, TV Maranhense takes digital channel 17.1 and TV Diversa is located at 40.1.

The channel, owned by the Padre Anchieta Foundation and considered one of the main ones with educational content in Brazil, has been closing agreements to expand its coverage in the country. In the last six years, the network doubled its coverage area and went from 11 to 25 Brazilian states, which means a 140% increase. To the alliances dealt with Maranhão and Belo Horizonte are added others previously ran in Ceará and Tocantins. In 2018, the channel also closed others  in Porto Velho, new cities in Paraná’s southwestern and in the Mineiro Triangle.

TV Cultura’s increase made the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) include it in the list of broadcasters with coverage throughout the Brazilian territory since 2016. Currently, the channel’s programming reaches 130 million people homes.
