Brazilian public broadcasting network TV Brasil signed an agreement with Net (Claro Brasil) to launch its high definition channel on the operator’s programming lineup.
According to Agencia Brasil, the public broadcaster expects to attract other operators in the sector to make new contracts and increase its audience.
“Technically the process was already ready and thanks to the intervention of the minister (of Culture) Sérgio Sá Leitão it was possible to enter the HD market. This will allow us to add more than 10 million viewers. We expand our field of action, in addition to offering a better quality product,” said EBC president Laerte Rímoli.
“EBC (Empresa Brasil de Comunicaciones) carries out today, through TV Brasil, an interesting, meaningful work of public communication with independent journalism, balanced and high-quality children’s programming,” commented Sá Leitão.
