Tumblr launched live video streaming

The blogging platform Tumblr (Yahoo) announced through its website that it has launched live video support for all users posts.

Starting June 21, Tumblr users can embed live videos that will be shared from YouTube (Google), YouNow, Kanvas and upclose free platforms.

The platform recommends a good internet connection; otherwise, the video may be choppy or stop completely. The posts can be reblogged just like any other post.  When any user starts a transmission, Tumblr will notify its followers. In addition, the services will pin the video on the top of the dashboard.

Tumblr has already hosted live streams this year such as the Toyota-sponsored stream of the Stagecoach Country Music Festival and the Firefly Festival. The streams contained 30-second pre-roll ads before the streams started playing, along with an ad unit at the top of Tumblr’s site for 24 hours to promote the streams.
