Africable, a free-to-air, French-language, pan-African TV-channel, along with several media groups have joined forces to create the first West African satellite platform. The initiative aims to launch TNT Sat Africa- a bouquet of 42 free-to-air channels via SES-4 satellite across West Africa by September 2014.
“In this context, we offer an alternative to government and televisions since our decoders will also be compatible with Freeview and we will cover all the countries of West Africa, unlike that must deploy States terrestrial infrastructure “said Malian Ismaïla Sidibé, founder and CEO of Africable.
The bouquet will be based on a single entry fee of about 50 euros paid at the time of acquisition of the decoder. While the initiative aims at a market of 3.5 million homes, they also intend to provide satellite links to governments and businesses.
