Millicom confirmed, through a press release, that it plans to gradually deploy its next generation TV service, Tigo One TV, to all of its Latin American markets. The platform is currently available in Colombia, where it was launched a few days ago.
The service is the result of a partnership between Millicom and TiVo. Tigo One TV allows users to access linear and OTT content from multiple sources with a common remote and search functionality. It offers personalization features, including recommendations based on viewer habits and intelligent recording, with capacity for up to 100 movies.
“We are very excited to work with TiVo to bring the most innovative products to our customers in Latin America. We have been accelerating the build-out of our high-speed cable networks in Latin America, toward our goal of passing 15 million homes, and this is a good example of the type of partnership that we are seeking to sustain our rapid growth by offering a superior user experience to our customers,” said Mauricio Ramos, CEO of Millicom.
In addition to Colombia, Millicom offers pay TV under the Tigo brand in Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Paraguay.
