The operation was approved by the Tanzanian authorities.
Simon Karikari, MD of Tigo Tanzania declared, “By combining our activities in Tanzania, I firmly believe that we will create a more inclusive future for Tanzanian telecommunications. Tigo and Zantel customers will all benefit from enhanced services and a more consolidated market to help advance innovation in the industry more widely”
Karikari further added that: “ The combined group will provide better coverage and better service to urban and rural customers in Tanzania, by providing better access to enterprise communication solutions, as well as mobile financial services for Tigo and Zantel customers. SIM cards and mobile phone numbers of customers will not change. The customer experience on both networks will not be interrupted during the integration process. “
