Televisa, W Studios to produce Arturo Pérez-Reverte’s first original story for TV

Televisa announced the production of the new series “El Último Dragón” (The Last Dragon), which will mark the debut of Spanish author Arturo Pérez-Reverte as a TV screenwriter. The new project will be produced by W Studios, Joint Venture between Patricio Wills and Univision. It will be available on Televisa’s Blim OTT service.

The story follows the life of a Mexican top executive, educated in Japan, who will become a sophisticated white-collar drug dealer, with more hackers than gunmen, Televisa said in a statement.

According to Pérez-Reverte, “it has been an exciting challenge to create for television the character of a narco of the 21st century, so different from traditional stereotypes. Something that has never been told so far: the portrait of a new generation of traffickers, made not in the violent world of shootings, shipments and border crossings, but in the offices of high international finance, the meeting of Bank shareholders and luxury hotels”.

“The Last Dragon”, will be shot in locations of Japan, Spain, the United States and Mexico. Among other titles, Perez-Reverte is the author of “La Reina del Sur”, a novel that was later adapted for TV, with great international success.
