Televisa expands its online presence

Grupo Televisa announced an agreement to acquire 50% of, one of the most visited news sites in Mexico. With this operation, the Mexican company seeks to increase its presence in the online market.

According to the monthly ranking published by ComScore and El Economista, SDP Noticias is the leader in unique visitors from smartphones among the native digital media of Mexico. It has a monthly average of 6 million unique visitors from those devices, which will add to the 11.5 million that Grupo Televisa registers on its websites. Televisa Digital and SDPnoticias will develop applications, video games and sites specializing in different news topics, said Televisa on its website. The companies did not disclose the amount of the transaction.

Televisa’s online presence includes the Group’s corporate site, Las Estrellas website, the OTT Blim and the portals of its publishing division, among others.
