Telefonica Peru plans to invest more than S/350 million (USD 106.6 million) this year to deploy 4G technology in the country, mainly using 700 Mhz band. The figure represents a growth of 57% compared to 2016.
In this way, the company intends to “continue improving the quality of services” and supports “the quality of new services such as the video streaming platform Movistar Play,” said Oswaldo Pelaes, Manager of Core Planning at Telefonica.
Telefonica announced the launch of Movistar Play in Peru last July. As a novelty, the company allows its mobile users to access the service. The streaming platform is available at no additional cost.
The company reported that between January and July this year has installed 855 new 4G antennas. In turn, at the end of the first half of 2017, 21 million Peruvians have the possibility of connecting to this technology, thanks to the expansion of coverage.
