Movistar TV Argentina

Telefónica has launched its new pay TV service in Argentina, under the Movistar TV brand, in cities with FTTH coverage. The offer includes two plans with 90 basic channels, Premium content, VOD service and direct access to Netflix. The company is offering a promotion with a 40% discount for 12 months.
In this way, the Spanish telco makes its first steps into the pay TV market where it will compete with Cablevisión-Telecom, the country’s largest operator. The launch is part of the opening of the telecommunications market, which began in January 2018, and seeks to promote the offer of convergent services.
According to the company, the internal installation is wireless. “This is the first offer of a Wi-Fi TV service in Latin America, with differential features to other market alternatives,” said the company in a press release.
The TV offer (90 channels with HD included) + 100 mbps and unlimited calls to landlines throughout the country is priced at AR $ 1,709 (USD 47, including the discount). While that same option but with 300 mbps costs AR $ 2,057 per month (USD 56). Currently, the service is available in some areas of the City of Buenos Aires and in the south and west of Greater Buenos Aires.
The platform inlcudes direct access to Netflix through the remote control (or through channel 333), as part of the agreement announced by both companies, as well as the option to subscribe to Premium channels from HBO, Fox, the Soccer Pack (Fox Sports and TNT Sports) and the Hot Pack (Playboy TV, Sextreme, Venus). Movistar TV also includes features such as live pause, start over, 24 hours catch up and exclusive content through Movistar Series and Movistar eSports channels.
The new IPTV service allows content to be consumed from different devices simultaneously, such as smartTV, smartphones, tablets and PCs.
For customers that already have fiber optic broadband, the installation does not require holes in the home or cable laying, and includes the bonus of two set-top boxes and a Wi-Fi signal repeater to achieve greater internet coverage in all the environments of the house.
