Triple play operator Telecentro from Argentina (Pierri Group) is offering to new clients the hybrid HD set-top box DCIW303 provided by the French company Sagemcom. The new box offers access to Netflix and the operator’s TV Everywhere service Telecentro Play, among other apps.
The operator’s technical support service confirmed this information to NexTV News Latam. The company reported that Sagemcom devices also include YouTube, but this app is being updated for proper operation. The STB has one Ethernet port. Several clients have already reported the delivery of the new equipment through the site El Destaque.
Last June, Telecentro launched a promotion offering new customers three months of free access to Netflix. This was a novelty in a local context where most telecommunications companies offer bundled packs with their own VOD services – as Personal Video (Telecom), Claro Video (América Móvil), among others. However, a few days after Telecentro, Telecom Argentina announced the launch of the same promotion with Netflix, available for its mobile and broadband subscribers.
The other app offered in the box –Telecentro Play– gathers all the TV Everywhere platforms of content providers such as ESPN, Fox and HBO, among others.
So far, Telecentro had used Cisco STBs for its video service, and it was only until the launch of the promotion with Netflix that it stated using Sagemcom devices. Netflix help center is already providing technical assistance for the installation of Telecentro’s equipment.
