STARZ Play, the video streaming service provider in MENA, has sealed a groundbreaking deal with Warner Bros International Television Distribution. The pact extends over several years with more than 6000 hours of entertainment, including 1800 hours of Arabic content and more than 2500 hours dubbed in French.
Kicking off this month, the deal follows the offer of several hit TV shows like the superhero series, ‘The Flash’, the fantasy comic series, ‘DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’, the action-adventure ‘Supergirl’ and the crime drama ‘Blindspot’. One bonus point following this deal is the offer of the very popular sitcom, ‘Friends’. All ten seasons will be available.
Commenting about the pact, Khaled Benchouche, the senior VP of programming and acquisition at STARZ Play, said: “This is a landmark deal which adds some of the most demanded and searched titles to our library. We have been successful in attracting top studios to our platform and we are delighted to work with Warner Bros., which is one of the most reputable names in the industry”.
Further, he said that: “Superhero movies and series have always been one of the most popular genres on our platform, and our deal with Warner Bros. will enable us to provide amazing TV shows such as The Flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow to our subscribers. STARZ Play is targeting a leadership position within the regional entertainment industry and this deal will help us to become the number one choice for entertainment fans in MENA”.
On the other hand, Jeffrey Schlesinger, the president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution, said: “We are pleased to continue our relationship with STARZ Play that will now give their subscribers access to several of our marquee series and the opportunity to discover these programs for the first time or catch up on missed episodes”.
