STARZ Play, the subscription video streaming service provider in MENA, has acquired an assortment of content from 20th Century Fox Television Distribution. The two companies sealed the deal and movies alongside series will be available in the 19 countries in the Middle East and North Africa regions where STARZ Play is accessible.
The content collection comprises of ‘The Hills Have Eyes 2’ (horror movie), ‘The Heat’ (action-comedy). Also included are animated titles like ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’, ‘The Croods’, ‘Epic’, ‘The Penguins of Madagascar’. In the month of February, viewers will have access to the first season of ‘Empire’.
Commenting on the deal, Khaled Benchouche, the senior VP of programming and acquisition at STARZ Play, said: “We are delighted to be working with 20th Century Fox Television Distribution to bring its content to STARZ Play. This deal meets the rising demand for premium OTT titles and recognizes the unique opportunities available to the MENA region”.
Further, he said: “By providing a host of well-known titles such as the series How I Met Your Mother, American Horror Story, The Americans, The Strain, Sons of Anarchy, 24 and Homeland and movies, including A Good Day To Die Hard, The Wolverine and Turbo, our content library becomes even richer and more relevant to the region’s young population”.
On the other hand, Kristen Finney, the executive VP for Europe, Middle East and Africa at 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, commented: “We are thrilled to have closed our first deal with STARZ Play and look forward to building upon our new partnership”.
Also, she added: “With its SVOD service available throughout 19 countries in the MENA region, STARZ Play will be the perfect SVOD home for audiences to further enjoy our television series and films”.
