StarTimes has signed a media gateway solution contract with Conax. The agreement is expected to help the Chinese Pay TV operator expand its footprint in Africa.
Under the deal, Conax will provide its Trusted Link security client as well technical blueprint for multiroom service to StarTimes. The ‘Whole Home’ solution “solution will provide an advanced service for Africa households making it much easier to share Live TV and PVR within the home,” Conax said.
Africa currently has over five million DTH and DTT subscribers in 16 countries. With digital TV migration, the number is expected to grow in the future. StarTimes is one of the newest players in the markets and is expanding its business in East African TV markets.

Conax will deliver the Conax Trusted Link™, which is a new security client for in-home distribution of content from a media gateway to a selection of STBs, tablets and smartphones.
