StarTimes begins arbitration proceedings against Ghana at International Commercial Court

StarTimes has begun arbitration process at the International Commercial Court against the Ghanaian government over its DTT contract termination.

The China-based Pay TV provider has alleged that Ghana cancelled its digital terrestrial Tv contract without following due procedure.  The agreement between the government and StarTimes was terminated on 14 January, 2015. The operator has tried to save the contract via various methods, including legal proceedings and diplomatic efforts, reports Ghana Business News.

Government of Ghana, meanwhile, has given the USD82.3 million DTT contract to home-bred company, K-Net.

StarTimes is suing the government for USD200 million for the terminated contract, according to media reports.
