Sony Pictures Television (SPT) announced it has renewed its Latin American Canal Sony’s brand, now known as Sony Channel, which has a new visual identity in which the Sony logo is the main element. The company also announced that, with the aim of taking advantage of the channel’s premium content collection, Sony Channel will also launch well known SPT owned programs, including the medical series The Good Doctor, recently declared the world’s most watched TV drama at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, in Monaco.
‘As we focus on our existing portfolio again, we will be delving deeper into the vast film and entertainment content Sony Pictures has, broadcasting on Sony Channel programs that regional audiences have come to love, and introducing new and captivating content during the year’, said Alexander Marin, International Channels and Distribution Executive Vice President for Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. ‘We are excited to be part of the creation of a powerful unified channel brand, with great appeal, which will improve our Latin American audience watching experience’, he added.
On September 2nd, Sony Channel will start broadcasting The Good Doctor’s first season, series that records almost 50 million viewers worldwide, based on a same named Korean drama. David Shore is its writer and executive producer, together with Daniel Dae Kim, David Kim, Sebastian Lee and Seth Gordon.
