Sony to introduce Sony BBC Earth in India

Sony Pictures Networks has received approvals from the Ministry of Broadcasting and Information (MIB) for the launching of Sony BBC Earth, the upcoming channel. It will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, in both high-definition and standard definition versions.

“We have received regulatory approvals for the launch of Sony BBC Earth, in both SD and HD. We are now gearing up for the launch of these channels and will announce a launch date soon,” the company stated.

Further, NP Singh, the CEO of SPNI, said: “Licences are expected anytime this month, and we will launch two channels in SD and HD in multiple languages. If all goes well, it will launch in April”.

The channel, BBC Earth, is a factual entertainment channel which forms part of MSM-Worldwide Factual Media (MSMW). MSMW is a joint venture between Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) and BBC Worldwide.
